AMC Theatres is headed to downtown Sunnyvale. CityLine Sunnyvale has signed a lease with the movie theater chain to share a building with Whole Foods Markets. The under-construction mixed-use transit-oriented development will offer housing, retail, entertainment and office space on 36 acres. The two-story building at Murphy and McKinley avenues will have an AMC Theatre occupying 52K SF on the second floor and the Whole Foods occupying 52K SF on the ground level. Construction is expected to begin in the next few months with completion expected by summer 2019. The theater will have 12 screens with Dolby Cinema and IMAX upgrades on two screens. The theater will offer a full-service bar and reserved seating. CityLine Sunnyvale is being developed by STC Venture, a JV of Hunter Storm and Sares Regis Group of Northern California. The project includes $20M in public improvements, which are under construction.
